What protection and control teams consider when planning local power continuity.
Isolation has a purpose
A local network may need to separate from a wider grid during a fault. Protection equipment detects the operating condition and isolates the supported section according to the agreed control plan.
The supply remains physical
The controller does not supply the missing electricity. Local generation and storage determine which loads can be maintained, for how long and under what conditions. An operating plan must distinguish critical demand from work that can wait.
A controlled return
Reconnection requires compatible voltage, frequency and phase. Checks, operator responsibility and the sequence of switching are specified together with the equipment.
Plan the whole transition
GridHold integration considers the condition before separation, the period of local operation and the return to the wider network. A plan that stops at isolation leaves the next consequential decision unresolved.
